1- As of August 2019 a new law stopped exemption of all private (non-diplomatic) shpts. All shpts are taxable now. Duty will be approx. US$0.50/kg but final amount will be given by customs after shipment has arrived & is inspected.
2- Required documents for Sea:
- Copy of the Passport
- Residence permit in Origin country
- Last entry stamp to Lebanon
- Confirmation of residence by the local 'Mukhtar'.
3- Required documents for Air
- Original passport.
4- IMPORTATION OF CARS.
Cars older than 8 years are forbidden to enter Lebanon . Same goes for diesel powered cars. To custom clear a private car you need to have an original purchase invoice, copy of the car registration and the original passport of the owner. .
On the Ocean B/L please ensure to show: model, year, color, chassis and engine numbers as well as weight of car. Except for foreign diplomats there is duty/VAT for all cars.
5- For foreign diplomats & foreign members of U.N. and E.U.
who will have diplomatic
status in Lebanon, we only need original Ocean B/L / AWB and packing list from the origin
agent. Diplomatic paperwork for household goods and cars are issued in Lebanon.
6- It is highly recommended that live pets are carried with the customer and prior
arrangements made with the airline for urgent customs formalities in Beirut airport upon
arrival of the customer & the pets. Recent certificate for all normal inoculations is required
as well as pet ownership paper(s).
